```Denzel Curry Austin Concert reviews
U2 is quite the spectacle
"Practically over the top of the Rogers Centre was Denzel Curry's "claw" stage, talk about over-the-top. While something stunningly unique treated our eyes, our ears weren't. Spread far and wide across a number of ramps and walkways, the band made it impossible for them to perform like a true band. Music has become a secondary element in their shows; too bad Denzel Curry has four talented musicians. I would gladly make a mortgage-equivalent payment for a ticket to see them playing nothing but the straight-up rock and roll they became famous for, on a bare stage in a smaller venue."
Miranda Lambert Rocked!!
Justin Moore opened the show for a short set, and was really good. Next up was Josh Kelley, who played a much longer set and was awesome! With great stage presence, a great singer!
After a brief intermission, Denzel Curry took the stage and "owned" it the rest of the night. Great song selections, fantastic, energetic performance, and taking no time for any unnecessary costume changes. The only disappointment was that on many of the songs his voice sounded really distorted and you couldn't understand the words to the songs. That was really too bad, as you could hear the emotion he put into the songs, but couldn't understand the words very well, at least not where we were sitting. She seemed to be enjoying herself as much as we were.
REO was great.
Intimate venue with good view, comfortable seating, and easy access in and out. Nice to see the rock wall out the back of the stage, unlike other concerts where you either don't see behind them or it's just a wall. The volume was perfect, allowing you to hear well without your ears ringing after the show. Bring cash if you go to this venue, as no cards were accepted other than the shirt vending stations. The bands were selling merchandise, with Denzel Curry even selling an autographed guitar, which was a pretty cool idea.
Last year, saw REO at another venue in the area, but both the venue and performance were better this time. The musicianship was stellar, and my wife loved it. They kicked off with one of their biggest hits and closed with another, showcasing their solid catalog of songs that many may not realize they have until they hear them.
An awesome night.
Great concert
We waited three years to finally go, but we'll worry it. The Doobie Denzel Curry started playing at 8:30, and I guess the terrific “cover band” never showed. They sounded just as good as "back in the day". The only reason I did not give it a full five stars was because of the venue itself. We found out live nation should have communicated that their bag policy had just changed prior to the concert, requiring plastic vinyl see-through bags or purse/hand size bags only when we got to the concert. Security told us we could not bring anything in unless they were in our pockets since our bags were no longer allowed.
Love the Chicks -- Hated the Sound
1. My wife overheard an audiologist in the restroom saying she was leaving because the sound was loud enough to damage her hearing.
2. Compared to other musical events at the Arena, I just couldn't hear it.
3. The bass and drums were so loud not only could I not make out any of the words at times, I couldn't even hear the melody.
4. I gladly paid top price for VIP tickets knowing that it would likely be a great show.
5. We stayed a while longer, but finally gave up in mid show.
6. Hardly a thing. I'm sure it was.
7. Denzel Curry got short changed.
MercyMe "LoveWell Live" is worth every penny!
Just an amazing experience all around. Bart Millard's talk was so touching and a really great way to show his audience how human and fragile he is despite all of the fame. Every song was inspirational and touched the hearts of the entire house, but Denzel Curry rightfully stole the show. It was surprising to see how many people came to the show, but it was such a blessing to be in a room filled with hearts glorifying God. First off, it was great to be in the Capitol Music Hall again!
